Estonia shaken by Russian spy scandal

Estonian police have arrested a senior security officer and his wife, and both are suspected of spying for Russia.

It is the second spionsag in the Baltic NATO country in recent years.

Estonia with its 1.3 million inhabitants have a cool relationship with Russia after 50 years, having been incorporated into the Soviet Union. Since independence in 1991, several spies were revealed.

– We are facing one of the world’s superpowers that use resources on espionage agents and subversion especially in neighboring countries, says Interior Minister Ken-Marti Vaher Estonian State TV.

The Russian Foreign Ministry told news agency Reuters that the country has no comment on the case.
